Dubrovnik Churches: the St. Blaise church is the favorite church for wedding ceremonies

The St.Blaise church, in Croatian "Sveti Vlaho", in Dubrovnik old town isundoubtedly the most beloved of all churches to tie the knot. There isn't achurch as chosen as this one for a Roman Catholic wedding ceremony; it is thestrong favorite amongst the otherwise also very beautiful churches.

Today, we are going to look at another beautiful church in Dubrovnik: the St. Ignatius church.

Last week, for those that missed it, we discussed several details of the Dominican church.

The St. Ignatius church is a Jesuit church, built between 1667 and 1725 by architect Ignazzio Pozzo, and like most Jesuit churches of the period was modelled on the Gesù in Rome, the mother church of the Jesuits.

The St. Ignatius lies in the old city center of Dubrovnik, a small seaside city in the South of Croatia.

The church lies a few meters off the main street the Stradun which makes is less crowded and certainly more peacefull. The couple below is walking down the baroque steps which were modelled on the Spanish steps in Rome.

Since the old town is car free, most brides choose to walk to the church, but it is also possible to ask a special permittion and have a car bring you as close as possible to the church.

Lets have a look at a few images of Daniel and Therese who got married in Dubrovnik on a warm September afternoon. In one of the images you will see a lady who gets a rosemary branch pinned on, it is a local Croatian tradition to have all guests receive a Rosemary branch.

One of the exciting things to marry in the old town of Dubrovnik is the location. The walk to the church is beautiful, but so is the walk to the reception venue after the wedding mass.

This couple here chose to have a local trio of klapa singers await for them as they came out of the church and together with their friends and family, they walked to the dinner venue.

All the way, the klapa singers were entertaining not only their guests but also everybody else.
Having a klapa at your wedding is a typical Croatian tradition. Sometimes they accompany the bride from her home (hotel) to the church.

The father of the bride, here with the little boy on his arm, had been fighting his tears already when he accompanied his daughter to the church.
At this moment though, the tears had won the fight.

Guests gathering after the ceremony, just moments before the group pictures are going to be taken.

No explanation needed, right? :-)

Hello to all,

Well I guess it isabout time I introduce myself here. Nina has asked me to write something forour new blog, and even though I am not so strong with words… here we go!

My name is Zeljko, I am with Dubrovnik Riviera Weddings for overa year now shooting the weddings in Dubrovnik.

How to reduce stress when planning a wedding

Here are my top 8 tips to stop or never even start stressing out. And if you do stress out, call ME! :-)

1.Don't get caught up in the mountain of details surrounding everything remotely related to the 'happiest day of your life'. The closer you get to your ceremony, the more you need to rely on the people you've chosen to delegate responsibilties to. Stay focused on your 'big picture' items: Your dress, the wedding theme, primary colors, staying connected emotionally with your fiance (and reality for that matter!). You don't have time to manage every detail and you will be exhausted and find yourself trying to simply survive your own wedding.

2.Follow your list with priorities. We have created a "to do" list which all our couples will receive after booking. This list shows you what to do and when to do it. If you follow those few easy steps your wedding will be fully planned into the greatest detail months ahead of time.

The Wedding Season in Dubrovnik has Ended...

Dubrovnik in the shoulder season (April, May, October)

Destination weddings in Dubrovnik are a seasonal business, or better said this is correct in 95% of the planned destination weddings.
The most popular wedding months are between May and September, when the weather is warm and most weddings can take place outdoors. In July and August it can get very hot, too hot for some, as they then prefer to dine indoors in air-conditioned environment.
The town is busy and everything has come to life compared to the quiet winter months. In fact, many hotels are running on very low capacity during the winter months, some even close their doors because it is not financially interesting to stay open.
